The highest peaks in Scotland are being hit by the first snows of the season this week, which means I’m officially allowed to start posting winter pictures.
I took this one on a wild day out on the Ben Lawers horseshoe on Easter Monday this year. A temperature of below -5C on the ridge combined with 40mph winds gave a ferocious wind chill.
The ascent of An Stuc from this direction is quite exciting in these conditions: we followed a steep, shallow gulley to the right of the central ridge, which popped out just below the summit.
