Can I get a message to Nick? Nick, I enjoyed your excellent program on the Munros but you left us with a fascinating unanswered question. Who was the first complete Munro bagger? If it wasn’t Monro who died with 3 left to do and it wasn’t Rev Robertson who didn’t do the Inpin then who was it?
Regards
Hugh from Southport
Hi Hugh,
Thanks for the comment. Many argue that Rev Robertson should still be considered the first compleatist as he did finish the list of the time – even if it was incorrect.
But if you don’t accept that, then it would be Ronald Burn, who completed in 1923. I believe he also ticked off all the tops, so there’s no disputing the achievement.
