Leica M6: A street photographer’s tool

No, I haven’t bought one… This beautiful and well-used camera belongs to Scottish film-maker and photographer David Peat.

David has been a street photographer for 40 years, amassing thousands of images taken all over the world. But he never enlarged any of them beyond contact sheet size until two years’ ago, when he discovered he had incurable cancer.

He’s now got an exhibition of of his work at the Watermill Bookshop in Aberfeldy. I’m producing an audio slideshow using David’s photographs, which will hopefully be published on the BBC website next week.

Update 13.07.11: Audio slideshow has now been published.
